No more proxy... i think...
In order to keep this site from being a YouTube proxy, I've incorporated the IP-based restriction feature of the new YouTube API. I don't mind people using this site to get around firewalls at work, but I do mind people using this to watch videos that are otherwise not allowed by their local laws or governments.

New Features!
-- You can now browse popular channels as well as featured channels.

-- Content Filter: You can now set a content filter to reduce or eliminate 'restricted' videos from your channels. This feature is similar to Google's SafeSearch feature. This is a feature of the YouTube API and therfore mostly out of my control. If you turn on the content filter, and still get some 'restricted videos' in your channels, please accept my apologies. (and complain to youtube *teehee)

New player!
This new player fixes the issues people were experiencing with the previous player.
While you're playing around with that, we're going to find some entertaining and useful video channels to feature.

I'm starting over from scratch... again.
Fixed • Known issues: The player sometimes gets stuck at the end of a clip. Clicking a watch now button from the playlist, or clicking the next button on the player will get the videos to play again.

About this site

Video Evolved was created in 2006 for a coworker. He liked to listen Colbert Report videos while he worked. Most of the time he would keep the video in the background or minimized while he edited video. I noticed that every time a video ended, he would have to bring up the browser, find his search results and start a new video.

I took it on, as a personal challenge and a favor for him, to create a web application that would allow him to create a playlist of videos that would play continuously. It would increase his productivity and would be fun for me to build. Win - win!

So I built this site. It was called YouTube Shuffle and somehow made it to the front page of Digg. It was also featured in a Japanese magazine Yahoo! Intenet Guide.

Shortly thereafter, I had to change the name due to trademark issues. And since then, this has been my playground. I use to try out new things... programmimng paradigms and methodologies, languages, libraries, APIs... you get the idea.

Hopefully you find this site usefull.
In the meantime, I'm going to label this a 'Perpetual Beta' and get to work.
